What is Academy Soccer?
Academy soccer is an option provided by NTSSA for players in the U7 through U10 age groups who are ready for a more competitive and development-focused environment than recreational soccer.
While GSSA does not host its own academy or club teams, we help facilitate proper registration for GSSA recreational players who are also playing academy soccer through approved clubs.
Registration Options
Playing REC with GSSA + Academy with Solar Soccer Club
If your child plays recreational soccer through GSSA and academy soccer through Solar Soccer Club, follow this process:
- Register using the NTSSA Academy Player ONLINE Registration Form in your player account.
- No additional fee is required—your club covers the academy registration fee.
Log in to your GSSA player account and complete the form under “Available Forms.”
Playing Academy with an Outside Club (Not Solar SC)
If your child is either:
- Playing REC through GSSA and academy through a non-Solar club, or
- Playing ONLY academy soccer (no REC) through a non-Solar club,
You must complete GSSA’s Academy Only Registration and pay a $25 annual fee.
Steps to Register:
1. Complete and pay for the Academy Only Registration through GSSA.
2. Complete the NTSSA Academy Player ONLINE Registration Form in your player account.
Important Reminders
Registration must be completed each season (Fall & Spring).
Academy registration ensures eligibility to play and be covered under NTSSA’s insurance and competition guidelines.
GSSA covers the NTSSA fee once your Academy registration through us is complete.
Why Register Through GSSA?
Per NTSSA bylaws, any player who participates in both recreational soccer through GSSA and academy soccer must be registered with their home association (GSSA) each season, regardless of where their academy play takes place.
